FROM Easter egg raffles to winter appeals, the St Vincent de Paul group at St Peter's is an example of how involved young people can become in their communities.

The organisers of the St Vinnies club are Mrs Harris and Mr Crawford and they lead an enthusiastic, hard-working group of students.

During April St Peter's held the annual Easter Egg raffle.

"All our young volunteers are excellent workers and had quite a job wrapping the 45 Easter egg raffle prizes," said Mrs Harris.

This term's activities will focus on the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal.

Students are being asked to bring in blankets, jumpers or other items that could be useful to members of the community.

"Winter is the toughest time for underprivileged families, which is why the Winter Appeal is so important," said Mr Crawford.

Later this term the St Vincent de Paul Society will hold an Op Shop Day, where students will be asked to dress in op-shop gear and donate $1.

While people see the Easter egg raffle and Winter Appeal as fun experiences, they are also important benefits that can impact positively on people's lives in a variety of important ways.
